“The Wasp in My Realm” by Laura Garrard 11×14” acrylic on canvas. I created this tranquil abstract in response to my essay “The Wasp Bath,” in which I describe a peaceful summer morning when I calmly watched a wasp bathe about a foot away from my head. I had been reading Yoga International magazine and felt quite content, settled enough to sit still while a wasp was in my realm. Setting typical fears aside, I witnessed an unexpected beautiful act.
