Description
I was born and raised in Virginia before moving to West Virginia in 1995. I served in the United States Army as a Military Police Officer from 1987 to 1990. Two other veteran friends had participated in Honoring Our Veterans workshops and returned raving about their experiences, so I applied, not expecting to be selected.
Prior to coming to the HOV photography workshop, I had not used a digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) camera. I felt it was a personal challenge to learn this skill; for years I had wanted to understand the most effective way to use a camera. While I thoroughly enjoyed night photography, my favorite part of the week was our afternoon spent at the Gros Ventre River Ranch. Having a print to bring home at the end of the workshop was an added surprise. HOV’s workshops offer once-in-a-lifetime experiences – relaxing and life changing – and the people of HOV, and the surrounding area, are warm and welcoming.
